Faster PussyCat Kill! Kill! (1965)

Faster Pussycat KILL! KILL! (1965)

Written by Jack Moran and Russ Meyer

Directed by Russ Meyer

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to violence, the word and the act.” Is the opening narration of this fast and furious movie. This is the movie Russ Meyer is most known for and deservedly so, it’s a rampant look buxom beauties, fast cars and murder. Three strippers go out into the desert where they meet up with a square and his girlfriend, and after beating him a race; kill him and steal his girlfriend. And ride until they stop at a farm, where an old man and his big dumb son live. Soon the girls find out the man is rich and plan to rob him, leading to a surprise ending, and ironic twists.

Tura Santana plays the leader of the gals and shouts almost all of her lines, scratch that, she does shout all of them. But that’s what makes this movie so inherently cool and awesome, even though this a predecessor to psychobilly music and wild biker flicks, this movie has jazz written all over it. I mean it is rock and roll, but the dialogue is so damn good and smart, no one talks like these chicks. That’s what makes this movie classic though, it was a sign of the times, where things were about being rowdy before all the hippies came out to play. There is a lot of sexual tension and as a result everything explodes into violence.

This is a must see for cult classic seekers, a lot of the movies we love today owe to this films use of dialogue and general electricity of cool. Fast, cheap and out of control. Seek it out!
